Three MIAA Student-Athletes Earn Spot on CoSIDA Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team

On May 19, three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) student-athletes were selected to the 2021‐22 Academic All‐District® Men’s At‐Large Team by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The 2021‐22 Academic All‐District® Men’s At‐Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student‐athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All‐America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First‐team Academic All‐District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All‐America® ballot. First‐, second‐ and third‐team Academic All‐America® honorees will be announced in mid‐June.

Those selected to the All-District® 6 Team include Calvin's Jacob Heeres and Hunter Stearns, and Hope's Jack Radzville.

Calvin junior Jacob Heeres is studying Engeering with a grade-point average of 3.80.  The swimmer assisted the Knights to a second-place finish at the 2022 MIAA Swimming and Diving Championships.  Heeres competed in both the record-breaking 200 free relay (1:20.24) and the record-breaking 800 free relay (6:38.29).  He also helped Calvin to a victorious 400 free relay (2:59.20).

Senior lacrosse player Hunter Stearns has a perfect GPA of 4.0 as a Biochemistry and Spanish double major.  The defender assisted the Knights defensively with 23 caused turnovers on the season.

Jack Radzille, a senior lacrosse player at Hope, boasts a grade-point average of 3.90 as an Electrical Engineering major.  The attacker helped the Flying Dutchmen to the regular-season championship after an unblemished 6-0 record in MIAA play.  Radzville finished second in the conference with 90 points, third with 55 goals, and fourth in both assists (35) and shots (145).

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All‐America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Divisions II and III Academic All‐America® programs.
