Second-seeded Hope upset No. 1 seed Albion with a 19-13 victory in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament on May 7.

After a 2-2 tie at the 6:48 mark in the first quarter, the Flying Dutchmen took off with nine-straight goals over the next 15:38, including five from Luke Elder.  Hope held the Britons to single digits until the beginning of the final quarter.  Albion's battle was not enough to keep the Flying Dutchmen from their second-straight championship title.

Hope goal keeper Ian Bosman finished the contest with 15 saves and Albion's Josh Luketic with 13 saves.

Elder led the Flying Dutchmen with seven goals and nine shots on goal, while Michael Mann scored five goals for the team.  Brayden Blackburn had a team high of six ground balls and Tucker Martinez caused four turnovers.

Albion's Sam Puzevic and Jace Conley each scored three goals for the Britons.  Conley had nine shots on goal, while Puzevic had five.  Gerald Haadsma had a game-best eight ground balls and Chad Burton caused six turnovers.

Hope had a 26-21 edge in ground balls and won 22-of-36 faceoffs.

The Flying Dutchmen receive the automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament.  The NCAA will release the bracket on Sunday, May 9, at 9:00 p.m.
