Around the MIAA

Saturday, Feb. 22 marks the start of Adrian's 2020 season when the Bulldogs take on Benedictine.

Alma (1-1, 0-0)
The men's lacrosse team fell to Carthage College 14-13 on Saturday (Feb. 15) in its home opener at Bahlke Field. Down 14-10 midway through the fourth quarter, the Scots got goals from Timothy Gearig (Vicksburg, Mich.) and Tom Needham (Saline, Mich.). With 48 seconds remaining, senior Connor Alley (Powell, Ohio) scored to pull the Scots within one goal of tying the game at 14, but the Scots were unable to find the net again. Alley was one of the Scots leaders on offense with three goals. Gearig and senior Chase Hunyadi (Pepper Pike, Ohio) also had three goals for the Scots.
Calvin (0-0, 0-0)
The Knights will begin 2020 play Saturday, Feb. 27 when Calvin faces Wabash.
Hope (0-0, 0-0)
Hope will travel to Augustana Saturday, Feb. 29 to start the 2020 season.
Kalamazoo (1-0, 0-0)
Kalamazoo began its season on Saturday at the University of Michigan - Dearborn and earned a 16-12 victory. Sophomore Dylan McGorisk led the Hornets with five goals and one assist. Jack Loveland added three goals and two assists to begin his sophomore campaign. Jack Jesko, Harrison Ramsey, and Brandon Wright added two goals apiece. Goalie Nate Silverman played all 60 minutes while making 16 saves. Kalamazoo returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 23 at Concordia (Mich.). The game is scheduled to be played at Detroit Country Day at 5 p.m.

The Thunder are slated to start the 2020 season Wednesday, Feb. 19 against Anderson.
