Adrian's Aurand Tabbed to USILA National Team of the Week

Adrian College freshman defender Christian Aurand (Troy, Mich.) has become the second Bulldog this spring to earn United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division III National Team of the Week accolades, the organization announced on Tuesday. With classmate and midfielder Maxwell Leventis chosen on Feb. 26, Adrian ties Hope College for the most USILA national weekly awards in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association history.

Aurand had a career day in Adrian's first win of the season on Saturday at Franciscan, 16-7, which snapped a 10-game road losing streak for the team. The religious studies and philosophy double-major tied a school record with eight caused turnovers, which are the most ever by a Bulldog freshman, and scooped up a career-high nine ground balls. Aurand helped anchor a defensive unit that gave up the fewest goals allowed on the road since 2017. The eight caused turnovers led the nation among National Team of the Week nominees during the week.

Aurand and Leventis also hold the distinction as the only freshmen in MIAA history to win the USILA award.
