Hope, Albion Move On to MIAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament Championship

Hope 15, Calvin 3

Top-seeded Hope rushed out to a 10-1 halftime lead on the way to a 15-3 victory over Calvin Wednesday evening to advance to the MIAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament title game Saturday, May 4 at 7 p.m.

Rocco Mularoni scored twice in the first half and added three assists throughout the game to fuel Hope’s offense. Nine different players shook the nets for the Flying Dutchmen (13-3). Jack Radzville led all scorers with four goals.

Nick Schanhals posted nine saves on 12 shots faced and came up with seven ground balls.

Calvin (10-8) was led by Max Foster’s two goals, while Noah Nedd gathered five ground balls; Nick Pitre added five caused turnovers for the Knights.


Albion 11, Alma 10

In a semifinal where neither team led by more than three goals and featured four ties, Albion scored six of the first nine goals of the second half to defeat Alma Wednesday evening, 11-10.

Albion (8-8) benefitted from a four-goal game by Alec Palmer, including three strikes in the second half; Jacob Swift scored three goals for the Britons, including two after halftime and Albion’s final score of the evening.

Albion’s Trevor McManus made 20 saves on 30 shots faced while snatching six ground balls; McManus’ save total is second-most in MIAA Tournament history. Jerry Haadsma came up with a game-high 17 ground balls and won 21 of 23 face offs.

Alma’s Trevor Bailey led the Scots (8-10) with a game-high six points on five goals and one assist.
