Hope Men's Lacrosse Drops Season Finale To Trine

The Hope College men's lacrosse team dropped its season finale 13-6 to Trine on Saturday at Van Andel Stadium.

The Flying Dutchmen end the 2016 season with a 9-7 overall record that includes the most wins in their four-year varsity history. They placed fifth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association with a 3-4 league record.

Junior Gunnar Elder of East Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS) totaled three goals to lead Hope.

Elder finished with single-season school records with 64 goals, 35 assists and 99 points.

Trine (8-5, 5-2 MIAA) advanced to next week's MIAA Tournament with the win.

The Thunder broke open the game by outscoring Hope 5-0 during the second period and 5-1 during the third period.
