Hope Men's Lacrosse Win Streak Stopped By Alma Comeback

Three unanswered fourth-period goals halted a school-record, nine-match win streak for the Hope College men's lacrosse team.

Alma rallied to edge the visiting Flying Dutchmen 10-9 on Wednesday with its final flurry, including the go-ahead goal with 3 ½ minutes remaining.

Hope (9-4 overall) is now in a four-way tie for second place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings. The Flying Dutchmen trail league-leader Albion by one game along with Alma, Olivet and Trine.

Junior Gunnar Elder of East Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS) topped the Flying Dutchmen with three goals and two assists.

Two teammates chipped in two goals apiece: junior Zach Weber of Ann Arbor, Michigan (PioneerHS) and sophomore Grant Brogan of East Lansing, Michigan (East Lansing HS)

Sophomore goalie Joey Williams of Farmington Hills, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central HS) made eight saves.

The Flying Dutchmen return to action on Saturday, April 23 with a 1 p.m. match at Olivet.
