Albion stumbles at Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio – Cameron Braun, David DiRado and Dylan Neal produced two goals apiece in Albion College's 14-9 loss to Kenyon College in non-league men's lacrosse action.

Braun and DiRado each had a goal and an assist in the second quarter as Albion rallied to forge a 5-5 tie at halftime. Braun set up Dominic Hamper for an extra-man goal for the equalizer with 49 seconds left in the first half.

Braun and Brandon Lebioda scored 30 seconds apart as Albion gained a 7-6 lead 4 ½ minutes into the third quarter.

Jonah Florence scored a tying goal and he assisted on the next two goals as Kenyon reeled off five goals to stake the Lords to an 11-7 lead.

Neal struck for his second goal of the day in the first minute of the fourth quarter, but that was as close as the Britons would get. Nick Vitale, Chris Ferraro and Robert Jacobs all scored for Kenyon in the final period.

Albion finished with 15 more shots, 60-45, than Kenyon, though shots on goal were 28-26 in favor of the Britons. The Britons also finished with a 46-24 edge in groundballs.

Face-off specialist Kyle DeCamp was credited with scooping up 17 groundballs, and Neal collected five.

Albion will make its campus debut next Saturday (March 5) when it plays host to Wittenberg University at 3:30 p.m. on the Schmidt-Fraser Field inside Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.
