Hope Captures MIAA Regular-Season Title; All-MIAA Men's Golfers Announced

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Hope College was declared the 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) men's golf regular-season champion at the conclusion of six conference rounds:  four jamborees and two rounds in the Fall Final at L.E. Kaufman Golf Club.  In addition, the slate of All-MIAA honorees was announced.

Trine junior Mark Civanich claimed the title of MIAA Most Valuable Golfer after finishing six rounds with a season-best average of 71.67.  Civanich is a three-time All-MIAA honoree.

Senior Mitch Lowney of Trine University was voted the 2022 Sportsmanship Award honoree by his conference opponents.  This is an award given to a player who demonstrates outstanding ethical conduct and golf sportsmanship.

Lowney became a four-time All-MIAA recipient this season.  As mentioned, Civanich is now a three-time All-MIAA honoree, along with Hope's Will Robson.  Calvin's Jacob Siebenga, Hope's Seth Almquist, and Kalamazoo's Tyler Omness are all receiving All-MIAA recognition for the second time in their careers.

As the top-four finishing teams, Hope, Trine, Adrian, and Calvin will all compete in the MIAA's Automatic-Qualifying Tournament this spring to determine which program will receive the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Championship.
