CALEDONIA, Mich. -- The Hope College men's golf team receives the conference's automatic berth into the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship after competing in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's (MIAA) NCAA Automatic Qualifier Tournament over the week.
The Flying Dutchmen concluded the tournament with a team score of 915. Trine University finished shortly behind with a 925, followed by Calvin University in third place (952) and Adrian College in fourth place (979).
In the first round on Saturday, Hope led the competition with a score of 296 at the Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive, Mich. Teammates Will Robson and Jack Crawford earned co-medalist status after both shooting 73. The Flying Dutchmen had the top-three finishes on the day, with Logan DeWitt shooting a 74.
Trine clinched round two on Tuesday with a 297 at the Stonewater Country Club in Caledonia, Mich. Hope's Jack Guerrera led all players with a 71. Trine claimed the next three spots with Mark Civanich at second (73) and cousins Jack and Brogan Brockie tied-for-third (74). Will Robson of Hope rounded out the top five with a 75, assisting Hope to a second-place finish on day two (304).
Calvin earned the lowest score on Wednesday with a 308, followed by Trine with a 313 and Hope with a 315. Trine's Mitch Lowney was the medalist for the day after shooting a 71. Hope's Jack Guerrera earned a 74 after round three and Calvin's Sam Holland a 75. Knight Jacob Siebenga and Adrian's Joe Renfer tied-for-fourth with a 77.
The 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship will be held May 10-13 at the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
