Around the MIAA

Men's Golf has been idle since Sept. 1-2 before playing in two events this week: MIAA Jamboree #1 on Sep. 12 and Bulldogs own Irish Hills Intercollegiate on Sep. 14-15…sophomores Brett McGugan and Hayden Winch lead Adrian with an identical 74.0 stroke average through two rounds.

Albion

Justin Kapke shot a season-low 78 and Jake Hinkle scored 78 for the second consecutive round in a tournament at Alma last Saturday.

Alma

The Alma College men's golf team finished sixth at the Alma Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 8) with a score of 350 (+62). The Scots were led by Tait Morrissey (Canadian Lakes, Mich. / Big Rapids) who shot an 83 (+11). Seniors Bennett Schmitt (Frankfort, Mich. / Frankfort) and Kyle Bodkins (Ada, Mich. / Forest Hills Central) shot an 86 (+14) and 89 (+17), respectively.

Calvin

After members of the Calvin golf program competed at the Alma Invitational Sept. 8, the Knights will participate in the first MIAA Jamboree Sept. 12.

No. 9 Hope

Josh Gibson shot 4-under-par at the 36-hole Aurora University (Illinois) Double Gun Invitational on Tuesday to lead the Hope College men's golf team to a second-place finish. The senior from Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS) carded rounds of 4-under-par 68 and 72 to place third individually in the 17-team event. He was named MIAA Men's Golfer of the Week on Monday.

Kalamazoo

The Kalamazoo College men's golf team finished third at Ohio Wesleyan's Battle at the Brook this weekend. Jackson Jones tied for fifth overall after shooting 73 on Saturday and 37 on the weather shortened Sunday. Parker Pickell was 10th after shooting 72 and 40. Travis Veenhuis and Mathew Holmes-Hackerd followed up Saturday's rounds of 76 with a 40 and 41, respectively.

Olivet

The Olivet College men's golf team finished in fourth-place at the Battle at Braveheart, hosted by Alma College and played at the Pine River Country Club. Olivet had a 327 team score. Sophomore Nicholas Hoffman shared medalist honors with a one-over par 73.

Trine

The Trine University men's golf team placed five players in the top-10, including the co-medalist, as the Thunder claimed the team championship at the Alma (Mich.) College Invitational held at Pine River Country Club in Alma, Mich.
