Three MIAA Men's Golf Team Earn GCAA Team Academic Award Honors

Three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's golf programs - Hope, Kalamazoo, and Trine - were honored July 17 for their team academic success by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) by receiving the national coaching organization's Outstanding Team Academic honors.

Kalamazoo was tabbed as one of the top eight NCAA Division III teams academically with the squad's listing on the President's Special Recognition list, reserved for team GPAs of 3.5 or above for a calendar year.

In all, the GCAA recognized 30 teams at the NCAA Division III level.

To be eligible for GCAA Outstanding Team Academic honors a college or university must submit GPAs for each player on their official squad list for the academic year and have achieved a minimum of 3.0 GPA. A total of 202 schools submitted GPA’s of 3.0 or above, with 34 of those schools earning Presidents Special Recognition Honors, finishing with a team GPA of 3.5 and above.
