GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Leading by nine strokes heading into the third and final round of the 2018 MIAA Men's Golf NCAA Qualifying Tournament Saturday, Hope was able to remain steady despite strong wind gusts throughout the final round to post a team score of 311 to finish the three-round event with a 13-stroke advantage on Calvin, the 2017 MIAA fall season Champion.
Calvin made an early move to get past Hope, closing the gap to just four strokes near the turn. But Hope counted just two double-bogeys on the back nine in the challenging winds and only four holes over a bogey as a team on Saturday. Hope's Kade Hoeksema had the low-round of the day, posting a two-over 74, while teammate Josh Gibson added a four-over 76 to finish with an even-par 215 to lead the field.
