Three Men's Basketball Teams to Represent MIAA in 2024 NCAA Division III Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) will be represented by Calvin University, Hope College, and Trine University in the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament.

The Thunder, currently ranked thirteenth in the nation, will enter the NCAA Tournament with an overall record of 23-4.  The regular-season co-champion (12-2 MIAA) received an at-large bid and will serve as a host for the opening two rounds of competition on March 1 and March 2.  This is Trine's first trip to the NCAA Tournament in program history and under head coach Brooks Miller.

Trine will face Fontbonne in the first round of play on Friday, March 1, at 8:10 p.m.  The Thunder will also host 25th-ranked Coe and Wabash as part of the four-team pod.

The Flying Dutchmen earned the league's automatic bid into the national competition after sweeping their MIAA Tournament competitors as the No. 3 seed.  Hope currently has an overall record of 22-6 and finished the conference campaign with an 11-3 record.  This will be the 30th trip to the NCAA tournament for the Flying Dutchmen and the sixth appearance under head coach Greg Mitchell.

Hope will travel to Case Western Reserve for the first and second rounds of the tournament, March 1-2.  The 22nd-ranked Flying Dutchmen are slated to compete against Anderson (Ind.) in the first contest on Friday, March 1, at 4:45 p.m.  Sixth-ranked Case Western Reserve will also host Mary Baldwin as part of the four-team pod.

Ranked tenth nationally, Calvin received an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament.  This is the 23rd appearance in program history for the Knights and their second visit under head coach Bill Sall.  Calvin concluded the regular season as the regular-season co-champion alongside Trine (12-2 MIAA) and currently has an overall record of 22-4.

The Knights will face 17th-ranked Elmhurst at host John Carroll University on Friday, March 1, at 5:50 p.m.  John Carroll will also host SUNY New Paltz in the first two rounds.

Sixteen sites will host four teams for first- and second-round competition Friday-Saturday, March 1-2.  Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional sites March 8-9.  Winners of the four sectional championship games will advance to the semi-finals and finals March 14 and 16.  All games, except the semi-finals and finals, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions.  The semi-finals and finals will be held at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, IN.
