Calvin's Jalen Overway Named to NABC All-District First Team

NABC Division 3 All-District Teams

Calvin freshman Jalen Overway has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III All-District 7 First Team.

As a member of the first team, he is now eligible for NABC All-America consideration.

The NABC award is his second of the week as he was named to the D3hoops.com All-Region 7 First Team earlier in the day as well as the D3hoops.com Region 7 Freshman of the Year.

Overway (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) had a standout freshman campaign, averaging 18.6 points and 9.9 rebounds a game while connecting on 53.3 percent of his field goal attempts.

During the year he hit for double-digits in scoring 26 of 27 game while amassing 13 double-doubles. Overway hit the 30-point plateau twice during the season including a 34-point outburst in a 59-56 win over No. 3 UW-Oshkosh on November 11.

He was named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week in early November and was later named the U.S. Basketball Writer's Division III National Player of the Week later in December. He was also named MIAA Player of the Week twice during the season. He later was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player and landed a spot on the All-MIAA First Team.

Overway helped the Calvin men's basketball team post an overall record of 22-5 and claim the MIAA regular season conference championship with a 13-1 league record.
