All-MIAA - Men's Basketball - 2021

FREELAND, Mich. -- Following the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's Basketball Tournament, the eight head coaches voted on All-MIAA awards.  Typically the voting would take place prior to the tournament, however, in this unprecedented year the coaches were able to take championship contests into consideration.

Trine University's junior guard Nick Bowman was selected the 2021 MIAA Most Valuable Player after leading the conference in scoring (22.4 PPG | 112 points), field goals (44-of-77), assists (23), and steals (24).  Bowman earned MIAA Athlete of the Week three times this season and was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week twice.

Bowman headlines an All-MIAA First Team that features Albion's Cortez Garland who was the 2020 Defensive Player of the Year, three-time First Team All-MIAA player Caden Ebeling from Albion (2019-21), and two-time First Team All-MIAA player Preston Granger from Hope.  Also receiving First-Team honors in 2021 are Trine's Brent Cox and Calvin's Emmett Warners.

Trine freshman Emmanuel Mengnanglo was voted the 2021 MIAA Defensive Player of the Year.  The forward aided the Thunder defensively by averaging 1.8 blocks per MIAA game to rank first in the league.  Mengnanglo tied for the lead in Trine rebounds, averaging 4.6 per contest.

Calvin's Thad Shymanski and Alma's Cole Kleiver both garnered Second Team All-MIAA accolades for the second-consecutive year.  Also earning Second-Team honors are Adrian's Kendall Bellamy, Hope's Tyler George, Kalamazoo's Merritt Hamann, and Trine's Bryce Williams.
