Hope Loses At Albion

Dante Hawkins scored a game-high 24 points for the Hope College men's basketball team in an 86-68 loss at Albion College on Wednesday.

The senior guard from Holland, Michigan (Holland HS) was the only member of the Flying Dutchmen to reach double figures.

Hope (10-8 overall) fell out of first-place tie in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings. The Flying Dutchmen are in fourth place with a 4-3 league record — one game behind Adrian, Olivet, and Trine.

Hope starts the second half of MIAA play on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Trine.

Albion erupted for 56 second-half points to pull within a game of the Flying Dutchmen. The Britons shot 63 percent from the floor (19-30) and 3-point range (7-11) after taking a 30-25 halftime lead.

Albion (6-12, 3-4 MIAA) put five players in double figures. Forward Quinton Armstrong topped the Britons with 19 points.
