Britons fade as three-point shooting slips

The three-point shooting that helped Albion College forge a 12-point lead in the first half faded as the Britons absorbed a 84-78 loss to North Park University on the first night of back-to-back games in the Chicago area.

Dakota Kazen dialed up for a pair from long distance and Lucas Marble hit from the outside to spur a 14-0 run as Albion seized a 26-14 lead with seven minutes left in the first half.

The Britons continued to hold the lead, 32-26, as Robert Ryan connected from behind the arc with 2 ½ minutes left in the first half.

Albion settled for a 36-32 lead at halftime.

Albion missed its first six shots from three-point range in the second half. The Britons connected on 5-of-16 shots from long range as their shooting percentage for the game dipped to 36 percent (10-of-28).

Ryan celebrated his return to his hometown by achieving a career-high 25 points, shooting 9-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-7 from three-point range. He also dished out five assists.

Jordan Herron fell two rebounds shy of a double-double, finishing with 13 points and eight assists.

Juwan Henry and Jordan Robinson combined to produce 54 points for North Park. Robinson pulled down 11 rebounds to complete his double-double.

Albion, 4-3 overall, will complete its Chicago trip with an 8 p.m. Eastern time game at North Central College tomorrow night.
