Hope Hoists MIAA Football Championship

The Hope College football team finished the 2019 regular season with a 42-7 win over Adrian to secure a 7-0 MIAA record and the 2019 MIAA Championship. The honor is the first for Hope since 2007 and first outright title since 2006, when the Flying Dutchmen made their last postseason appearance.

With the title, Hope receives the MIAA's automatic berth to the 32-team 2019 NCAA Division III Football Championship.

In defeating Adrian Nov. 16, Hope held the Bulldogs to 98 rushing yards while amassing 375 yards on the ground offensively. Sophomore running back Kenyea Houston rushed to a career-high 194 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries; Houston scored on runs of four and 61 yards in the win.

For the season, Hope allowed just 14.9 points per game against MIAA foes while scoring 46.4 points per MIAA contest.

Hope enters the postseason with nine consecutive victories.
