Adrian Baseball Falls Short in Regional Final Against No. 1 Marietta to Finish Season

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Adrian College baseball team faced a rematch with No. 1 Marietta College in the Regional Final on Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs battled all nine innings in a pitcher's dual falling to Marietta 2-0. Adrian's season comes to an end after a MIAA Tournament Championship, a NCAA Regional Final appearance, and a 27-21 overall record.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Marietta took the lead in the third inning on an RBI ground out to lead 1-0. Marietta went on to add in the fourth in an RBI single to make it 2-1.
  • Marietta loaded the bases in the sixth inning. Jaxon Clark came on to pitch for Adrian where he rolled a double play to escape the bases loaded jam.
  • AJ Miranda started the seventh with a leadoff single but was left stranded at second after advancing on a wild pitch.
  • Edward Wagner singled in the ninth to give Adrian life trailing 2-0, but was unable to make it around to score.
  • Don Goodes earned the start for Adrian in the Regional Final. Goodes pitched 5.1 innings where he allowed two runs on four hits with four walks and two strikeouts. Clark came on in relief for the third time this weekend and pitched 2.2 innings allowing no runs on one hit.
  • Wagner, Miranda, Easton Rogers, and Gage Ricker were named to the Regional All-Tournament Team.

UP NEXT
Adrian's season comes to an end with a 27-21 overall record. The Bulldogs will return a young lineup for the 2024 season as they look to make another run to the NCAA Tournament.
