Adrian Baseball Defeats Case Western to Set Rematch with Marietta in Regional Championship

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Adrian College baseball team has made its way back to the NCAA Regional Championship where they will see a rematch with Marietta College. The Bulldogs defeated Case Western Reserve University on Saturday night to make their way through the consolation bracket. The Bulldogs jumped on the board early and were able to hold on to defeat the Spartans, 9-8.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Adrian scored four runs in the first inning starting with an RBI groundout from Edward Wagner. Later in the inning, Easton Rogers doubled in a run to lead 2-0 which was followed by a 2-RBI single from Linken Hayward to extend the lead to 4-0.
  • Case Western hit a solo home run in the bottom of the inning to go with an RBI groundout in the second to make it 4-2.
  • Adrian added four more in the third on an RBI single from Zach Wade, an RBI double from Jakob Charles, and a 2-RBI double from David Kedrow to lead 8-2.
  • Case Western added a run in the fourth, but Jack Boike answered with an RBI single for Adrian in the fifth.
  • Case Western put up four runs in the seventh inning to trail Adrian 9-7.
  • In the eighth inning, Ryan Davis went to the mound and struck out the side to hold onto the lead.
  • Case Western scored a run in the ninth, but with runners on second and third with two outs, the batter grounded out to AJ Miranda at first to end the ballgame.
  • Lincoln Lipinski got the win for Adrian after throwing six innings where he allowed four runs on four hits. Davis picked up the save with 2.1 innings in relief with five strikeouts.
  • Charles, Hayward, and Easton Rogers each had multi-hit games for Adrian.

UP NEXT
Adrian has made its way back to the Regional Championship where they will face No. 1 Marietta College in a rematch. The Bulldogs will need to defeat Marietta twice on Sunday to win the Regional. Game one is scheduled for 12:00 PM with the "if necessary" game starting 45 minutes after the completion of game one.
