Ricker's Complete Game Keeps Adrian Baseball Alive in NCAA Regionals

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Adrian College baseball team faced the University of Mary Washington in an elimination game at the Marietta College Regional on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs and Eagles were originally scheduled for 11:00 AM, but a rain delay pushed the start time to 2:00 PM. The No. 4 Bulldogs managed to stay alive in the Regional with a 5-1 win over No. 2 Mary Washington behind a complete game on the mound from Gage Ricker.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Adrian struck first in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single from Ryan Davis.
  • In the third inning, Edward Wagner hit a solo shot over the right field wall to make it 2-0.
  • Mary Washington put two runners on in the fifth inning, but Logan Loeffler threw both runners out stealing to keep the Eagles off the board.
  • The Bulldogs struck again in the sixth inning an RBI singled from Linken Hayward scoring Easton Rogers who reached on a double.
  • Rogers went on to hit a 2-run homer in the eighth inning to provide a pair of insurance runs for Adrian.
  • Mary Washington scored in the ninth inning on an RBI ground out which scored their only run of the ball game.
  • Gage Ricker was the star of the game where he threw nine complete innings where he allowed one run on seven hits with five strikeouts. Ricker moved to 3-0 on the season after throwing just 88 pitches in the complete game.
  • Rogers went 3-for-4 on the afternoon with two RBIs and two runs scored to lead the offense.
