Eight MIAA Baseball Players Receive Regional Recognition From ABCA
Eight baseball players from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) were selected to All-Region 7 teams by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) on Tuesday, May 30.
 
Both Alma College's Tyler Johnson and Kalamazoo College's Ryar Rinehart represent the MIAA on the All-Region 7 First Team.
 
Sophomore Tyler Johnson was voted the 2023 MIAA Pitcher of the Year after leading the Scots to a 15-6 conference record (22-21-1 overall).  In pitching a total of 12 games, Johnson concluded the 2023 campaign as the MIAA's leader with three complete games, one shutout, 81.0 innings pitched, 92 strikeouts, and 314 at-bats against.
 
Freshman Ryar Rinehart earned the title of 2023 MIAA Position Player of the Year after assisting the Hornets to their first regular-season title since 1927 with a 17-4 mark in conference play (31-11 overall).  In playing a total of 39 games, Rinehart finished the year as the league's leader with 72 runs batted in, eight sacrifice flies, and a .423 batting average.
 
Both Alma's Avery Carnicom and Kalamazoo's Braden Mussat earned a spot on the Second Team, while Adrian College's Ryan Davis, Calvin University's Patrick Gillen and Nate Mason, and Kalamazoo's Braden Mussat and Harrison Poeszat were named to the Third Team.
