CLEVELAND, Ohio – 2017 Adrian College baseball alumni Ryan Dorow made his Major League Baseball debut last night for the Texas Rangers. Dorow was drafted out of Adrian College in the 30th round of the 2017 MLB draft. Dorow is the first player from Adrian College to play in the major leagues since Clint Rogge played for the Reds on June 6, 1921.

"It was an awesome experience," expressed Dorow. "Something I will remember for the rest of my life. Being able to have my family and friends there throughout the week made it even more special."

Dorow began the year in Double-A where he quickly moved up to Triple-A in the Rangers' organization. In the minor leagues, Dorow was hitting .251 with 68 hits, nine home runs, and 40 runs scored with 31 RBIs. Dorow was called up on Tuesday, August 24 as a replacement to multiple guys on the Rangers who were put on the COVID-19 list.

"We are extremely excited to see Ryan get a chance," said Adrian College head coach Craig Rainey. "He has worked so hard for this since his childhood. All young baseball players dream of being a major leaguer, but very few actually have it happen. Ryan has stayed on course with his dreams through ups and downs the last few years."

Dorow made his MLB debut on Thursday night where he batted ninth and played third base. Dorow finished the game 0-for-3 with a walk. In the field, Dorow recorded an assist on a force out at second base off the bat of three-time All Star and Silver Slugger Jose Ramirez. He also collected a putout late in the game as he tagged a runner out at third.

"To see him put on a MLB jersey was unreal, and then to see his name in the starting lineup, words can't describe," expressed Rainey. "The entire AC baseball family is very excited for him and his future moving forward. Knowing Ryan, his work is hardly over. He has bigger dreams yet to fulfill, but this was a huge step in his career. Proud to say he wore a Bulldog jersey."

Dorow will look to continue to stay up in the major leagues with the Rangers. Starting September 1, teams are allowed to add two more players to their rosters as September call ups putting the roster size at 28. The Rangers head home to play a three game series against the Houston Astros before taking on the Colorado Rockies.
