Kalamazoo College's Blake Bean was named NCBWA (National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association) NCAA Division III National Hitter of the Week on Wednesday. Earlier today, he was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week on Wednesday. He was also named MIAA Position Player of the Week on Monday and Kalamazoo College Men's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday.

Bean is the first Kalamazoo player to earn National Hitter of the Week honors. Ryan Orr was named National Pitcher of the Week in 2018.

A senior from Farmington Hills, Mich. (Orchard Lake St. Mary's HS), Bean hit .643 with nine hits in 14 at-bats with three doubles, four home runs, 16 RBIs, three walks and three stolen bases in four games vs. Manchester last weekend.

Batting leadoff and playing centerfield, Bean had at least one hit in each of the four games, including multiple hits in three games, and at least one extra-base hit in each game.

In a 15-1 win on Sunday, Bean went 3-for-3 with three home runs, eight RBIs and four runs scored. His three home runs and eight RBIs were both school records.

The Kalamazoo College baseball team (4-0) is scheduled to be back in action over spring break with eight games in Tucson, Ariz. beginning March 17.
