FREELAND, Mich. -- At the conclusion of the 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) regular season, head coaches from the MIAA's eight member institutions that sponsor baseball voted on All-MIAA awards.
Hope senior Sean Hoey was voted the 2022 MIAA Pitcher of the Year after leading the Flying Dutchmen to their first outright regular-season title since 2007. Hoey concluded conference play as the leader in wins (5), innings pitched (43.0), walks (20), strikeouts (51), triples allowed (1) and at bats against (162). He is also second with 10.67 strikeouts per game. Hoey received All-MIAA honors for the first time in his career.
Senior outfielder Evan Maday of Hope was named the 2022 MIAA Position Player of the Year after assisting the Flying Dutchmen to the conference crown and a 17-4 mark in league play. Maday finished the regular season as the MIAA's leader with 21 games, seven home runs, 66 total bases, and a slugging percentage of .815. He also finished second in the conference with 109 plate appearances, 30 runs, and three triples. He is now a four-time All-MIAA honoree.
Calvin's Rick Padilla earned All-MIAA honors for the third time in his collegiate career this season. Alma's Joshua Robinson and Kalamazoo's Spencer Baldwin, Blake Bean, and Doug Propson are all receiving All-MIAA recognition for a second time.
