#15 Adrian (11-2, 4-0)

Adrian moves up three spots to No. 15 in the D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll….sophomore OF Brandon Cooper is the current MIAA Position Player of the Week, which is the first of Cooper's career…the Bulldogs are 11-2 which is their best start in program history that dates back to 1901…in his first season as a starter, Cooper is second on the team and fourth in the MIAA with a .444 batting average, plus second in both hits (20) and runs (17), fourth in total bases (28), fourth in slugging (.622) and seventh in on-base percentage (.500)…sophomore RHP Mo Hanley took a no-hitter through six innings of the final game of the weekend series against Alma, as three Adrian pitchers combined for a 1-hitter…The 19 hits in Game 2 of Sunday’s twinbill ties a season-high in the March 2 opener versus nationally-ranked Wisconsin-Oshkosh and 18 runs equals a season's best at Oglethorpe on March 9….The Bulldogs recorded their largest shutout win in the all-time series, 18-0 over Alma….Freshman LHP Maxwell Denny paces the MIAA with four victories (4-0) and Denny's team-best 1.96 earned-run average is third…Senior OF Zack Zschering is third with a .447 clip…Junior C Gunner Rainey has an MIAA-best 21 RBI….As a team, Adrian is averaging 10.86 runs for fourth in NCAA Division III…the Bulldogs play at Baldwin-Wallace today before meeting Kalamazoo this weekend.


Albion (7-6, 3-1)

Albion College got quality starting pitching from Mitch Shedlowsky (Waterford, Mich.) and Scott Grant (West Bloomfield, Mich.) to sweep the games from Olivet College last Saturday. Shedlowsky was brilliant in the first game, scattering two hits and a walk in the complete seven-inning game. It was his fourth career shutout and he has not allowed over his last 11 innings. Grant went nine innings in game two, allowing a run on eight hits with a career-high nine strikeouts. Grant's previous career high was eight strikeouts against St. Vincent College last March…Offensively, Drew Olszewski (Kentwood, Mich.), Joe Turnbull (Lake Orion, Mich.) and Kellan Huang (Canton, Mich.) all hit .500 (7-for-14) in the four-game series. Turnbull slugged three doubles and collected six RBI…Dylan Perry (Clarkston, Mich.) hit .455 (5-for-11) and he drew four walks and was hit by a pitch for a .625 on base percentage.


Alma (4-12, 0-4)

The Scots played four games this weekend against the No. 18 Adrian College Bulldogs. On Saturday (March 23) Alma fell, 8-5, and 10-2. Junior catcher Jaret Koin (Sterling, Mich.) led the way in game one by going 3-for-3 with his first home run of the season. On Sunday (March 24) the Scots dropped the doubleheader, 11-4 and 18-0. Alma would outhit Adrian in game one, 11-10, with five different players having two hits each. Sophomore left fielder Nick Hartner (Beaverton, Mich.) would get the only hit of the game for the Scots in game two.


Calvin (4-5, 0-0)

Calvin went 1-2 on a trip through Tennessee and Georgia, splitting a doubleheader with Maryville and falling at Covenant College. In a 7-2 win over Maryville, junior Trevor VanDuyn went seven innings to get the win. The Knights then fell the following night 4-3 in 11 innings. Senior Ryan Pena belted a home run in the loss. The Knights fell to Covenant 8-2 the following afternoon. Sophomore Ricky Padilla had three hits in defeat.


RV Hope (8-0, 0-0)

The Hope College baseball team went 8-0 on its spring break trip to Orlando, Florida and capped the trip with its second no-hitter of the season on the final day. The Flying Dutchmen swept Minnesota-Morris 6-2 and 9-0. Starting pitcher Keaton Hamilton and reliever CJ Otteman combined to throw the seven-inning, no-hitter in the Game 1, 6-2 victory. The ninth no-hitter in team history marked the first time in school history the Flying Dutchmen had thrown two no-hitters within the same season.


Kalamazoo (1-3, 0-0)

The Kalamazoo College baseball team lost its first game on its spring trip 14-4 to nationally-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday, March 24. Noah Hecht led the Hornets with three hits and an RBI while Chase Coselman had two hits including a triple and an RBI. The Hornets are scheduled to play five games in Florida this week before returning to Michigan to face Adrian in a four-game series this weekend.


Olivet (3-12, 1-3)

The Olivet College baseball team posted a 1-3 record in its first MIAA series of the season against Albion. After being swept in the first two games Saturday on their home field, the Comets split a doubleheader Sunday at Champions Stadium in Albion. For the four games, junior Riley Bennett topped the team with a .429 batting average and .643 slugging percentage. Logan Sella, Matt Hewitt, and Seamus Mitchell all recorded a .286 batting average. Mitchell hit a three-run home run in the final game of the series. On the mound, Zac Walter picked-up the Comets' win, throwing 2.1 innings of relief. Matt Rehfeldt earned the save in a 5-4 win.


Trine (7-5, 0-0)

Trine went 2-0 for the week with wins against Ohio Northern (2-1) and St. Francis (Ind.) (7-6)...Cale Hall batted .625 at the plate (five-of-eight) with a double, a run scored and two RBI...Pitcher Caleb Deiter ended up with a save and a win in an inning-and-a-third and had three strikeouts in five batters faced.
