Around the MIAA (through March 17 games)
#18 Adrian (7-1, 0-0)
Adrian is the newly-minted No. 18 nationally-ranked team in the D3baseball.com poll, released late Monday…the Bulldogs are off to their eight-game start (7-1) since 2012…Adrian will have its last non-conference game on Wednesday at Heidelberg before starting the MIAA circuit with a four-game series against Alma, a doubleheader at Alma on Saturday and another twinbill at home on Sunday…junior Pierce Banks is a two-time MIAA Pitcher of the Week (March 18, 2019, and April 10, 2017)…Adrian has a six-game winning streak while outscoring the opposition 72-22…the Bulldogs went 3-0 during their last Southern road trip in Georgia, where they beat a 14-6 Berry College squad (12-1), then-No. 11/16 Cortland (11-1) and six-time NCAA champion Marietta (8-4)…Banks is 17-3 lifetime, ranking in a three-way tie for 10th place for victories in school history…freshman Max Denny leads the MIAA in wins (3-0)…junior C Gunner Rainey and sophomore SS Thomas Miller have MIAA 1st and 5th rankings with 14 and 10 runs batted in, respectively…senior DH Korey Mazur is fourth in the conference with a .452 batting average…sophomore RHP Jordan Williams (2-0) is third in the MIAA with 16 strikeouts…the AC bullpen has allowed just two earned runs in 24 innings (25 strikeouts).
Albion (4-4, 0-0)
Albion was scheduled to play a non-league doubleheader at Bluffton last weekend, but those dates were postponed. Albion will try to play a nine-inning game at Bluffton on Tuesday. In NCAA statistics through games of March 14, RHP Mitch Shedlowsky (Waterford, Mich.) was 23rd in strikeout to walk ratio, 3B Drew Olszewski (Kentwood, Mich.) was 25th in stolen bases per game, and RHP Kellan Huang (Canton, Mich.) was 29th in WHIP.
Alma (4-7, 0-0)
Alma went to Baldwin Wallace last weekend to face the host Yellow Jackets as well as Oberlin and Defiance. On Saturday (March 16) against Oberlin, the Scots won 17-2. All nine Alma batters had at least one hit including Carter Sanderson (Ilderton, Ontario) who had the junior's first career multi-hit game going 4-for-5. Junior Dylan Dzendzel (Royal Oak, Mich.) pitched strong into the seventh to earn his second win of the season. On Sunday (March 17), Alma dropped a pair of one-run games. Against Defiance, the Scots lost 2-1 in 11 innings. Senior pitcher Joseph Barrons (Kingston, Mich.) had a shutout going until the ninth inning as Defiance tied the game at one and then scored in the 11th to take the win. The Scots then lost, 4-3, to Baldwin Wallace. Junior Zach Schirmer (Bay City, Mich.) led the way for the offense with two hits and one run scored.

The Flying Dutchmen opened the season with three wins in central Florida, including a no-hit performance in an 11-0 victory against Clarkson (N.Y.) on Friday. Starter Sean Hoey teamed with relievers Matt VanDyken and Max Gaishin for the eighth no-hitter in Flying Dutchmen history. The Flying Dutchmen then swept Lawrence (Wis.), 14-7 and 9-8 on Saturday. Third baseman Joey Merucci delivered the walk off hit in the 9-8 victory.

Olivet (2-8, 0-0)
The Comets posted a 2-6 record during its spring break trip to the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. At the plate, Aaron Gillespie led the Comets with a .375 batting average (9-of-24), while hitting one double, one triple and two home runs for a .750 slugging percentage. Brandan Settles hit .371 to go along with nine RBI and three stolen bases. Also hitting above .300 were Dyre Leonard (.350), Riley Bennett (.346), Matt Hewitt (.333), Dugan Dieselberg (.333) and Ben Compton (.333). Hewitt topped the team five extra-base hits (three doubles, two triples), and Bennett stole a team-best four bases. Zack Ostrowski posted a 1.80 ERA in five innings of relief. Max Daust was best among the starting pitchers with a 3.27 ERA in 11 innings. Daust went eight innings in a 19-1 win over Colby-Sawyer College.
Trine (5-5, 0-0)
Split doubleheader against Wittenberg in only action of the week...Cale Hall batted .800 at the plate (8-of-10) with three runs scored and three RBI...Jake Roddy hit his team-leading second home run of the season on a three-run homer in game one in which he finished with five RBI...Adam Wheaton got the win on the mound going six innings and allowed just two runs while striking out three batters.
