Kalamazoo's Orr Named NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week

Kalamazoo pitcher Ryan Orr continued to gather honors this week for his performances last week, as Orr was named the NCAA Division III Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) on Wednesday (April 25).

Previously, Orr was named MIAA Pitcher of the Week April 23 and to D3baseball.com's National Team of the Week April 24.

Orr went 2-0 last week, including a 7-0 no-hitter against Albion April 18; against the Britons, Orr fired nine strikeouts while walking just one to face one over the minimum. Orr followed up with 2.0 innings of relief against Calvin April 21, earning the extra-inning win over the Knights, 4-3; Orr did not allow a run in his nine innings on the mound.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters, and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Dick Howser Player of the Year Award, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests.
