Adrian Awaits Kalamazoo for MIAA Championship Friday

Adrian pitcher Pierce Banks went the distance to toss an eight-hit shutout while striking out five to push the Bulldogs into the MIAA championship game with an 11-0 win over Kalamazoo Thursday. Hunter Hayes went 3-for-3 with one run and four RBI, while Miccoy Drzewiecki energized Adrian's bottom of the order with a 3-for-4 day at the plate with two runs scored.

Calvin 18, Hope 2

Calvin's Johnny Salgado blasted a three-run home run in the first inning and followed up with a solo homer in the second to help ignite the Knights in their 18-2 win over Hope Thursday afternoon. Hope started the game with two runs in the top of the first, but Calvin answered with eight in the bottom of the inning; the Knights scored in six separate innings and rattled off 26 hits. Salgado finished with seven RBI, while teammate Mike Kempton was 5-for-6 in the box with three runs. Calvin's Jonathan Keane threw seven innings to earn the win.

Kalamazoo 2, Calvin 1

Kalamazoo's pinch runner Zach Prystash scored from first on an RBI double from Andre Gard to beat Calvin 2-1 Thursday evening to punch the Hornets' ticket to the MIAA Championship game Friday at noon against Adrian. Winning pitcher Scott Zychowski struck out five in 2.0 innings on the mound, as the Kalamazoo pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts.
