Hope Baseball Pair Each Records Two Hits In Loss To Elmhurst

First baseman Landon Brower and shortstop Brady VanderWeele each recorded two hits for the Hope College baseball team in a 3-2 loss to Elmhurst, Illinois Monday in Winter Haven, Florida.

Brower's RBI single plated pinch-runner Ben DeRitter to tie the score at 2-2 in the top of the eighth inning, but Elmhurst answered with an unearned run in its half of the inning.

Brower, the sophomore from Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), went 2-for-4 with a double.

VanderWeele, the senior from Kalamazoo, Michigan (Parchment HS), went 2-for-5 with a double and a single.

Designated hitter Luke Brower of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), had a fourth-inning RBI single that scored leftfielder Ryan Konkle of Marshall, Michigan (Marshall HS). 

Hope returns to action on Tuesday, March 23 with a doubleheader against New Paltz State.
