Sophomore Bryan Carney (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. / Grosse Pointe North) led the Comets to a 9-3 victory over the University of Hartford on the team's trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Carney started on the mound and threw eight innings, allowing one run on six hits and three walks. Most notably, Carney had a grand total of 15 strikeouts, the most by an Olivet pitcher since 2003, and ties for the fifth-most by an NCAA Division III pitcher this season. Carney's stellar performance concluded with a 16.88 k/9 and a 1.13 earned run average.
