Junior Luke Witvliet (Grandville, Mich. / Grandville Christian) opened the 2023 campaign as the runner-up in the Diemer Classic 5K with a time of 15:16. Witvliet ran a patient, evenly split race that allowed him to catch the Hillsdale leader in the final 400m and almost take the victory.
