Senior Megan McCulloch (Fort Gratiot, Mich. / Marysville) won the Olivet Comet Opener 5K on September 1 with a person-best time of 18:45.0. McCulloch held off two stellar runners from Hillsdale - one a top-60 finisher at the 2021 NCAA DII Cross Country Championship and the other an NCAA DII qualifier in the 1500m. The closest Division III competitor was 59 seconds behind her. Last year, McCulloch opened her season in a 23:02 6K (which is equivalent to a 19:00 5K per Jack Daniels' VDOT), before concluding the season at the NCAA DIII Championship.
