Senior Madelyn Summers (Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble) competed at the Defiance College Early Bird Meet on Friday. Summers finished second in both the weight throw and shot put. The only athlete to throw farther than Summers was a woman who competed for the USA in the Rio Olympics. Both of Summers's marks in the weight throw (13.38m) and the spot put (11.65m) are top-three lifetime-best performances. According to TFRRS, her performance in the shot put is currently 29th in the nation.
