MIAA Athletes of the Week - December 16, 2019

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced the two student-athletes selected as its Athletes of the Week, for the week of competition ending on December 15, 2019. 
 
The MIAA Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by coaches following one week of competition, and selected by the MIAA Director of Media Relations.
 
This week's winners are listed below with their respective achievements during last week's competition. 

MIAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week

Jordan Harris, Adrian
Junior, Guard
Indianapolis, Ind.

Jordan Harris poured in 40 points - the most points by an MIAA player this season and tied for 20th in the NCAA this season - in Adrian's 94-87 victory over Hiram Dec. 15. Harris connected on six three-pointers while adding three rebounds, one steal, and one assist. For the week, which included a 82-61 win over Loras Dec. 14, Harris averaged 30.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. 

MIAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week

Giavanna Paradiso, Saint Mary's
Junior, Forward
Columbus, Ohio

Giavanna Paradiso averaged 21.0 points and 6.0 rebounds last week, which included a 64-41 win at Adrian Dec. 14. In that win, Paradiso led all scorers with 27 points - one off a career-high - thanks to 11-of-14 shooting from the field, including 2-for-2 from three point range. Paradiso filled the stats line with seven rebounds, two steals, two assists, and no turnovers in 36 minutes against the Bulldogs. Earlier in the week, Paradiso had 15 points against NAIA IU-South Bend Dec. 11.
