MIAA Athletes of the Week - May 13, 2019
The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced the student-athletes selected as Athletes of the Week, for the week of competition ending on May 12, 2019. 
 
The MIAA Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by coaches following one week of competition, and selected by a panel of MIAA Sports Information Directors, including the MIAA Director of Media Relations.
 
This week's winners are listed below with their respective achievements during last week's competition. 

Pierce Banks, Adrian
Junior, P
Sterling Heights, Mich.

Banks earned the win in Adrian's 2-0 victory over Hope May 10 in the MIAA Baseball Tournament championship game, throwing eight innings while allowing just three hits. Banks struck out four in the contest, as the Bulldogs prevailed as the MIAA Tournament champions.
 

Dugan Darnell, Adrian
Senior, IF
Northville, Mich.

Darnell was a key factor at the plate, in the field, and on the mound for Adrian to help the Bulldogs win the 2019 MIAA Baseball Tournament championship. At the plate, Darnetll went 4-for-9 with two runs scored, a double, a triple, two walks and four RBI; against Alma May 8, Darnell went 2-for-4 with three RBI, a double, and one run scored. Along with 1.000 fielding percentage on 14 opportunities, Darnell also tallied three saves in three appearances, throwing for 4.0 innings with three strikeouts to one walk in Adrian's three tournament wins.
