MIAA Athletes of the Week - December 17, 2018
The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced the student-athletes selected as Athletes of the Week, for the week of competition ending on December 16, 2018. 
 
The MIAA Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by coaches following one week of competition, and selected by a panel of MIAA Sports Information Directors, including the MIAA Director of Media Relations.
 
This week's winners are listed below with their respective achievements during last week's competition. 

Jason Beckman, Hope
Senior, Guard
Shelby, Mich.

Beckman was a perfect 15-of-15 from the free throw line on the way to a 33-point performance in Hope's 78-71 win over UW-Platteville Dec. 15. Beckman's effort is tied for tops in NCAA Division III this season, and the most by any Hope player without a miss in team history. Beckman added three rebounds, three steals, two assists, and a blocked shot.

Giavanna Paradiso, Saint Mary's
Sophomore, Forward
Columbus, Ohio

Paradiso had 15 of her game-high 24 points in the second half to help fuel Saint Mary's come-from-behind win at Alma Dec. 15, 72-66. With Saint Mary's trailing by as much as 16 points in the second half, Paradiso went 6-of-6 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to aid in the road victory. Paradiso added eight rebounds and a team-high three assists to go with a blocked shot in 31 minutes of play.
