The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced the student-athletes selected as Athletes of the Week, for the week of competition ending on November 18, 2018.
The MIAA Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by coaches following one week of competition, and selected by a panel of MIAA Sports Information Directors, including the MIAA Director of Media Relations.
This week's winners are listed below with their respective achievements during last week's competition.
Jason Beckman, Hope
Senior, Guard
Shelby, Mich.
In Hope's 139-129 win at Greenville Nov. 16, Beckman logged a triple-double of 33 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists in 38 minutes of play; in the game, Beckman was 8-for-8 at the free throw line and 11-of-18 from the field while adding three steals. On the week, Beckman avearged 23.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 2.0 steals.
Francesca Buchanan, Hope
Senior, Forward
Grant, Mich.
Buchanan was named the Most Valuable Player of Hope's Tip-Off Classic after averaging 16.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game in Hope's two victories. Against MacMurray Nov. 16, Buchanan needed just 15 minutes to secure 11 points, nine rebounds, and two assists in Hope's 109-31 win. The following night against Benedictine Nov. 17, Buchanan finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists to aid the Flying Dutch in their 69-50 victory.
Jake Burris, Albion

Burris set the Wabash pool record in 1-meter diving Nov. 17, scoring 511.40 for 11 dives to win the event against nine competitors. Burris also finished third at the Wabash College Invitational on the 3-meter board, scoring 439.85.
Mac Robertson, Albion
Junior
Zeeland, Mich.
Robertson finished second in the 500 Free at the Wabash College Invitational Nov. 16-18, posting an MIAA-best time of 4:39.28, which also ranks 16th in NCAA Division III. Robertson took fifth in 1650 Free with a time of 16:29.33 for the top time in the MIAA this season and 22nd nationally. Robertson also placed fifth in the 200 Free (1:44.49) and anchored Albion's second-place 800 Free Relay (6:57.32).
Rileigh Eding, Albion
Junior
Hamilton, Mich.
Eding was a top contributor for Albion at the three-day Wabash Invitational Nov. 16-18, aiding the Britons in their third-place finish among NCAA Division III teams. Eding was second in the 50 Free (24.08), a time that is eighth in the nation. Eding was second overall and the top Division III swimmer in both the 100 Free (52.38) and 100 Back (56.60); Eding's time in the 100 Free ranks first in the MIAA and 11th nationally, while her 100 Back swim is currently third in NCAA Division III and an Albion program record.
Tyler Grimsley, Olivet
Senior, 165
Anchor Bay, Mich.
Grimsley was 4-0 at 165 lbs. at the Olivet Duals Nov. 17, helping the Comets to four team wins. Against No. 15 Millikin, Grimsley's 21-5 technical fall aided in Olivet's 23-15 team win. against Cornell (Iowa), Grimsley's late takedown at the third-period buzzer gave him a 3-1 win over No. 4 Ben Hewson. Grimsley added a 21-6 tech fall against Mount St. Joseph and a 21-5 win against Manchester.
