Matt Buesing of Calvin picked up Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) men’s tennis Player of the Week honors on Tuesday for matches through May 2.

Buesing, a senior from Hoffman Estates, Ill., helped Calvin go 2-0 in conference matches last week to help the Knights secure a spot in the MIAA Tournament following victories over Alma and Trine.

Starting the week with a victory at No. 1 singles Buesing beat Alma's Jared Guy, 6-3, 6-0. He later toppled Trine's Judson Quinn at the top spot, 6-2, 6-2. In doubles play the matches were a little closer, Buesing and sophomore David Brown went 2-0 at No. 2 doubles, defeating Alma 8-6 and Trine 8-6.

Buesing and the Knights return to action on Thursday when they travel to Kalamazoo to face the Hornets in the MIAA Tournament.
