Sam Gilly of Trine earned Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) on Tuesday for meets through Jan. 31.

Gilly, a senior from St. Joseph, Ill., won field athlete accolades after setting a new school record at Trine for the weight throw at the Don and Riley Zimmer Indoor Classic last weekend. Gilly's throw of 58-3 marked the second time he has set a new program-best mark this year. His throw rates fourth best in the nation for Division III this year.
