The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has partnered with Prostate Cancer Understanding Prevention and Screenings (P.C.U.P.S.) to sponsor Prostate Cancer Awareness Week Dec. 31-Jan. 6 at various MIAA men's and women's basketball games.

The MIAA/P.C.U.P.S. Prostate Cancer Awareness Week will also show support for MIAA men's basketball coach Jay Smith of Kalamazoo College following his recent prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment. The Kalamazoo at Alma men's basketball game on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 7:30 p.m. will be one of multiple basketball games that will focus on Prostate Cancer awareness.

Participating institutions will don light blue wristbands to show support and to promote prostate cancer awareness. Information on men's health and prostate cancer will also be available for fans. Here are the games on the MIAA schedule that will be part of the P.C.U.P.S. Prostate Cancer Awareness Week (As of Dec. 26):

Wednesday, Jan. 2

Men's Basketball: Kalamazoo at Alma - 7:30 p.m.
Women's Basketball: Calvin at Adrian - 7:30 p.m.
Women's Basketball: Saint Mary's at Olivet - 7:30 p.m.
Women's Basketball: Trine at Hope - 7:30 p.m.

Thursday, Jan. 3

Men's Basketball: Hope at Trine - 7:30 p.m.
Men's Basketball: Olivet at Albion - 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 5

Women's Basketball: Adrian at Albion - 3:00 p.m.

As part of the MIAA's Prostate Cancer Awareness Week, a fundraiser with the goal of $10,000 has been established. To participate, click here.  Donations are 100 percent tax deductable and will fund prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screenings to men in Michigan.

The P.C.U.P.S. Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Mount Pleasant, Mich., aims to promote prostate cancer awareness through sport and recreation. P.C.U.P.S.' mission is to ensure the quality of men's everyday lifestyle and save lives by educating people about prostate cancer and helping save lives through early-detection screenings. Since 2012, The P.C.U.P.S. Foundation has raised over $125,000 and has provided over 1,500 PSA screenings for men in northeast Michigan.
