MIAA Announces Steve Siomos as Supervisor of Soccer Officials

FREELAND, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) welcomes Steve Siomos as the Supervisor of Men's and Women's Soccer Officials, effective immediately.

Siomos joins the MIAA with an extensive background as an assignor.  He currently works with the following leagues:  the Big Ten (1990-present), the Summit League (2001-present), the Horizon League (2008-present), the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (2012-present), the Midwest Conference (2012-present), the Mid American Conference (2013-present), the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (2014-present), the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (2017-present), and the Missouri Valley Conference (2019-present).

A member of the National Intercollegiate Soccer Official Association (NISOA) since 1982, Siomos was a referee at the collegiate level (1982-2002) as well as a referee for the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) Professional League (1980-2002).  He also served as an assignor for the USSF Pro League between 1987 and 2016.  During his time as a college referee, Siomos made seven Final Four appearances, three times at the Division I level, two times at Division II, and two at Division III.

Siomos is the founder and past president of the Chicago Soccer Referee Club, which provides education and assists in the upgrading of referees.  He is also a cofounder of the Elite College Soccer Referees, an organization that trains and recruits referees for collegiate games.
