Nino Minaudo of Olivet and Brad Bogus of Albion claimed Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week honors on Monday for games through April 24.
Minaudo, a junior from Rochester Hills, won offensive honors after setting MIAA single-game records for points (12) and assists (8) in the Comets’ 23-7 victory over Hope on Saturday. He scored seven goals on the week including four in his record-setting effort. Minaudo posted two assists against Kalamazoo earlier in the week to finish with 17 points overall. He also picked up seven ground balls and caused a turnover in the two victories. It marks Minaudo’s second weekly honor this season after also winning on April 4.
Bogus, a senior from Lake Orion, earned defensive honors by leading the Albion defense in goal to a pair of MIAA road victories last week. He picked up 14 saves for a save percentage of 64 percent in a tight 9-8 victory at Trine on Saturday. Earlier in the week Bogus saved 60 percent of shots he faced in a win at Calvin. Along the way he added nine ground balls, including six in the one-goal win at Trine.
