Two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association student-athletes had the opportunity to participate in Special Olympics events as part of the 2019 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships last week.

Albion's Jake Burris and Anna Moore were selected from a pool of NCAA Championship participants to volunteer with the Special Olympics athletes.

Burris, a senior diver for the Britons, was among a group of divers who took time out of training on Tuesday (March 19) to coach a group of Special Olympians from the pool deck.

"It is always fun giving back to a sport that has been a big part of my life," Burris said. "It was rewarding to watch the athlete's excitement as they learned a new skill."

Moore participated in a Special Olympics Unified relay race Thursday (March 21). Twelve NCAA Championship qualifiers participated in the Unified Event, which has been part of the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships since 2015.
