Calvin Men's Lacrosse spends evening on ice with Mary Free Bed Adaptive Sports Team

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin University men's lacrosse team had the opportunity to play wheelchair lacrosse against the Mary Free Bed squad on Monday evening.

Mary Free Bed's Wheelchair & Adaptive Sports program offers athletes a variety of co-ed, competitive teams and clinics designed for patients and community members with limited mobility and other physical impairments.

"I was super excited when the team at Mary Free Bed reached out to see if we could scrimmage them, thought it would be a great chance to spread some love and grow the lacrosse community here in Grand Rapids," stated alumni Joel DeJonge. "The experience was an absolute blast. I can't think of a time where I have had more fun playing Lacrosse. I don't think I stopped laughing all game long, even though the athletes on the team from Mary Free Bed absolutely worked us over. Great to see our guys respond to the opportunity to help out and come out in force."

A big thank you to Coach Murray who put on the event.
