Hope Remains the Leader in the 2022-23 MIAA Commissioner's Cup Standings Following Winter Season

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- In the winter update of the 2022-23 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Commissioner's Cup race, Hope maintains the lead thanks to top-three finishes in five of the six winter sports that the institution sponsors.

The winter update is an unofficial look at the MIAA Commissioner's Cup standings.  The award is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in the league's 23 sports: 11 in women's sports and 12 in men's sports.  Each school counts its top eight finishes by gender.  The winter update includes each team's MIAA finish in eight men's (four fall, four winter) and seven women's sports (four fall, three winter).

The Flying Dutch/Dutchmen earned MIAA Championships in women's swimming and diving, women's indoor track and field, and shared the regular-season title in women's basketball for a total of 109.5 points.  Hope was the runner-up in men's swimming and diving on the way to garnering 47.5 points through seven winter sports.  The institution's lowest finish was fourth place in men's indoor track and field.

Calvin is currently second in the running with a total of 103 points thanks to top-three finishes in all seven winter sports that the institution sponsors.  The Knights won MIAA Championships in both men's basketball and men's swimming and diving while totaling 48 points this season.

Trine remains third with 90 points after the winter season.  The Thunder won the MIAA Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship and shared the women's basketball regular-season title.  Trine also had top-three finishes in both men's basketball and women's indoor track and field.

Albion is shortly behind in fourth place with 85 points, thanks to top-three finishes men's swimming and diving, men's indoor track and field, and wrestling.

Adrian is currently in fifth place with 71.5 points.  Alma (58.5 points) has the edge over Olivet (56 points) for sixth place.  Kalamazoo is ranked eighth with 48.5 points and Saint Mary's is ninth with 18 points.
