FREELAND, Mich. -- In the fall update of the 2021-22 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Commissioner's Cup race, Hope claims the early lead thanks to top-three finishes in all eight fall sports.

The fall update is an unofficial look at the MIAA Commissioner's Cup standings.  The award is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in the league's 23 sports: 11 in women's sports and 12 in men's sports.  Each school counts its top eight finishes by gender.  The fall update includes each team's MIAA finish in four men's and four women's sports.

The Flying Dutch earned MIAA Championships in women's cross country, women's golf, volleyball, along with the football co-championship.  Hope was the regular-season runner-up in men's cross country, men's golf, and tied-for-second in women's soccer on the way to garnering 66 points through eight fall sports.  The institution's lowest finish was third place in men's soccer.

Calvin is currently second in the running thanks to MIAA titles in men's cross country, men's golf, men's soccer, and women's soccer.  Trine claimed the third spot after the fall season with top-three finishes in men's cross country, men's golf, football, and women's cross country.

In the race for fourth place, Albion (40.5 points) leads Adrian (39 points) with help from the football co-championship title, women's soccer (tied-for-second), and the third-place volleyball squad.  The Bulldogs claimed third place in the women's golf final standings.

Kalamazoo is ranked sixth following the fall season with a total of 34 points.  Olivet (26 points) edged Alma (25 points) for seventh, while Saint Mary's rounds out the standings with 17 points from four women's fall sports.
