Hope Claims 2021-22 MIAA Commissioner's Cup

FREELAND, Mich. -- In the final update of this year's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Commissioner's Cup standings, Hope College captures the award for the 2021-22 academic year thanks to 10 outright regular-season championships and two co-championships.

Hope totaled 155 points to earn the program's 38th overall MIAA Commissioner's Cup.

Hope swept the All-Sport Championship titles with the men tallying 76.5 points and the women with 78.5 points.  On the men's side, the Flying Dutchmen won the MIAA Championships in basketball, swimming and diving, baseball, and lacrosse, while sharing the football title.  The women earned outright championship titles in cross country, golf, volleyball, swimming and diving, tennis, and outdoor track and field, while sharing the basketball regular-season crown.  Hope finished in the top three for every sport that they sponsor except one.

Calvin and Trine rounded out the top three with 135 points and 130 points, respectively.  Calvin amassed four championship titles during the 2021-22 academic year, while Trine was the outright champion in four sports and shared the women's basketball crown.

The MIAA Commissioner’s Cup award is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in 18 of the league's sports for men and women.
