
NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Three student-athletes from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) were announced All-Americans by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on November 22, including Trine's Evie Bultemeyer, Hope's Ana Tucker, and Calvin's Sadie Heeringa. All three runners finished in the top 40 at the 2021 NCAA Women's Cross Country Championships on November 20 in Louisville, Ky.
Trine graduate student Evie Bultemeyer led the conference once again with a fourth-place finish (career-best 20:43.7) at the 2021 NCAA Championships, improving on her previous eighth-place finish in 2019 (21:27.6). Bultemeyer was crowned the 2021 Great Lakes Region Women's Athlete of the Year for a second-straight season following her victory at the regional championship. She is also a two-time MIAA Most Valuable Runner and a four-time All-MIAA honoree.
Ana Tucker, a junior at Hope, earned All-American status for her second-consecutive season. Tucker clocked in at 21:15.5 for the 11th-place spot, improving on her 24th-place finish and time of 22:00.1 in 2019. She became a two-time All-MIAA recipient earlier this season and then received All-Region honors following her second-place performance at the 2021 NCAA Regional Championship (21:52.1).
Also turning in an All-America run was Calvin senior Sadie Heeringa. Heeringa crossed the finish line in 24th place with a time of 21:36.3. She is a two-time All-MIAA student-athlete and also received All-Region accolades this season.
In team standings, the Flying Dutch concluded ninth which is Hope's second-highest finish at the national event. Calvin finished 17th at the NCAA Championships, followed by Trine in 28th in the Thunder's first-ever NCAA Championship team appearance.
